Oh, believe me. If he was alive right now, he'd be pretty damn bad for all of us.
[Just. Gather what you will from that, Medic. She's not going to elaborate further because it's not fun and besides there's other stuff to talk about.]
What, the whole "I'm from the moon" thing didn't tip you off? Or the fact that I'm an aerospace engineer? Or the fact that I said I was drifting through deep space before this?
First few years of the 21st century, I think. Thank fucking God.
[She would tell him the exact year but she doesn't actually know.]
Anyways, the 22nd century isn't all that different from the 21st century. Just with a lot more space travel and...tech, I guess. Medical care is a lot more efficient. We can grow you new organs, but only if you have the money to shell out.
I meant more that you should take the monkey heart out and replace it with a new human heart! I am begging you please do not put two hearts inside of me.
Y-Yeah, uh, if you do that, please don't give him two hearts. [She lowers her voice a little, whispering in Medic's direction--] I don't think he'd be able to handle more emotions.
I mean I could theoretically do that if you really wanted, but:
-heart surgery is complicated, there's a lot of risks involved with performing it in a less than optimal environment
-i have to rely on whatever supplies the staff give me. With the staff glitching out lately, I don't really trust that!
-My Medigun can't dull the pain as well as it normally could, or perfectly close your chest cavity back up afterwards. more room for error and a lot longer downtime while you heal
with all of the above the chances of you dying are higher than I'm willing to risk, especially since you're perfectly healthy now with the current heart :/ so if you really want me to swap your heart out then that's one more reason you need to survive and get out of here alive.
[Like, she means it. But she's still sort of concerned.]
If you're still around when we get out of this place, I'd like to get my heart back, too. I think I'd have worried my wife enough for going missing for months on top of telling her I have a goddamn baboon heart.
Fine, fine. both of you get normal hearts back. but that also means you have to promise me that you're not going to do anything foolish and die while we're here :/
[When the time comes he'll definitely ask them again if they're absolutely sure they want to give up Temporary Invulnerability. But he'll keep his word if they insist.]
[Congrats! He missed! Luckily, Medic doesn't leave him hanging for long before he leans forward and kisses him on the lips briefly. There's... a very mild taste of blood, but it's fine. His lip stopped bleeding a while ago.]
C'mon, you've known me for three weeks. Do you think I'd do anything stupid?
[Ripley smiles a little, but then rolls her eyes when she sees Phil kissing the air. She scoots off of the bed, standing up and stretching. The chair that Phil had been sitting in before disappears.]
Anyways, if you need me, I'll be out in the hallway. I'll be standing guard in case anything goes down. Don't get too crazy in here.
[Medic shifts over on the bed to make room for Phil to lie down, clutching the plush cat to his chest. As soon as Phil joins him, Medic reaches out and pulls him into a hug, the plush Jones trapped between them.
They're now gonna be awkwardly cuddling on Ripley's bed for the foreseeable future.]

[Aaaand he gets to that last point.]
Fine, fine I can live with a monkey heart for a little longer, but the moment we get out I swear to god I'm getting a human heart again.

Oh don't worry Rips, we won't throw any wild parties while you're gone.
